By creating an account on Loregend ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account or use the Platform. We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date below and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. By registering, you represent that you meet this age requirement. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials, and you must not share your login information with others.
Students in a teacher-managed classroom are set up by their teacher and sign in with a class code and a nickname rather than registering their own accounts. Within the classroom they can both play and build games. The supervising teacher and school are responsible for any permissions required for those students. Student classroom projects are private to the classroom teacher by default and cannot be published to the public Portal by students unless a teacher or authorized account holder chooses to publish them. See our Privacy Policy for how classroom logins and student work are handled.
You retain ownership of the games and creative content you build using the Platform. However, by publishing a game to the Loregend Portal, you grant Loregend a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and promote your game on the Platform and related marketing materials.
Published games, including their titles, descriptions, thumbnails, maturity ratings, and the creator display name you attach, may be publicly visible, shared, indexed by search engines, and promoted by Loregend.
You are solely responsible for the content of your games. You must not create or publish games that contain:
You represent that you have all rights necessary to the content you upload or include in your games, including any images, audio, fonts, or other assets. You are responsible for obtaining the licenses required for third-party, stock, purchased, or AI-generated material and for complying with their terms. Loregend does not pre-screen or verify ownership of uploaded content, and we may remove content whose ownership or rights are disputed.
Your username and any display name must not impersonate another person or organization, infringe a trademark, or be offensive. We may reclaim or change names that violate this.
You can share the games you create in two ways: by publishing them to the Loregend Portal, and, on tiers that include export, by downloading them as a self-contained HTML file.
You are free to host, share, embed, and distribute your own exported games anywhere you choose, including on personal, school, or third-party websites and learning management systems. This permission covers the finished games you create with the Platform.
On tiers that include export, you may use the games you create for commercial purposes, including building games for clients, schools, businesses, and events, and distributing or selling those finished games, subject to your plan's limits. This does not grant any right to extract, decompile, reverse-engineer, or repackage the Loregend editor, the underlying game engine, or the player runtime as a standalone product, as part of a competing tool, or separately from a game you created, and it does not let you resell, sublicense, or offer the Loregend technology itself as a product or service. Redistribution of Platform technology apart from your own exported games is a violation of these Terms.
Games lawfully exported while your account was active may continue to be used and hosted after cancellation, provided they comply with these Terms and were not created through fraud, abuse, infringement, or circumvention of plan limits.
You must accurately rate the maturity level of your published games. Intentionally misrating a game (e.g., marking mature content as "Everyone") may result in removal of the game and suspension of your account. Loregend reserves the right to reclassify maturity ratings at its discretion.
All published games are subject to review. Loregend reserves the right to:
We strive to review content fairly, but moderation decisions are final. Repeat offenders may be permanently banned without notice.
We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. If you believe content published on the Platform infringes a copyright you own or control, send a notice to our designated agent at [email protected] that includes:
We will remove or disable access to material that is the subject of a valid notice, and we will, in appropriate cases, terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If you believe your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to the same address.
Our designated DMCA agent and full copyright-notice instructions are also available on our DMCA page. The agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory.
The Platform offers a free tier and paid Builder and Studio tiers, along with a Classroom plan for educators and a District tier for institutions.
The free Teacher tier closed to new sign-ups on September 1, 2026. Educators who verified before that date keep Builder-level access at no charge, and the classroom and student seats included with it, for as long as we continue to offer the Builder plan or a substantially similar teacher plan. That commitment is permanent and we will not move those accounts to a paid plan. Educators who sign up on or after September 1, 2026 use the free tier or a paid plan on the same terms as everyone else; the Classroom plan covers the educator and their student seats.
Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Paid plans are billed in advance and automatically renew for the same period (monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you choose) at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for each renewal.
You can cancel at any time from Manage Subscription inside your account, which opens the Stripe customer portal. When you cancel, your plan stays active through the end of the period you have already paid for and then does not renew. Payments are non-refundable except where a refund is required by law; canceling stops future charges but does not refund the current period.
Downgrading your tier may result in loss of access to features, storage, or content that exceed the lower tier's limits. Your existing projects and published games are retained, but you may not add new ones beyond the lower tier's caps until you upgrade again or free space. We may require you to reduce stored content if your account exceeds applicable storage or plan limits, and we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice before deleting unpublished content solely due to storage limits.
The Platform is in early access and still being actively developed. Features, limits, storage, export behavior, pricing, classroom tools, and Portal publishing rules may change as we improve the Platform. We will make reasonable efforts to give notice of significant changes, but you should not rely on any particular feature, limit, or price remaining unchanged during this period.
We provide support on a reasonable-effort basis and do not guarantee specific response or resolution times. Support levels may vary by tier, and free (Hobby) accounts may rely primarily on documentation and self-service resources. We support the Platform itself, not the content of the games you build.
The Loregend Platform, including its game engine, editor, player, design tools, and all associated code, graphics, and documentation, is the exclusive property of Selfdefiant Studios. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Platform software. The Loregend name, logo, and branding are trademarks of Selfdefiant Studios.
The Platform includes a curated public asset library of images, audio, and other media provided by Selfdefiant Studios. You may use these library assets inside games you create with Loregend, including games you publish to the Portal and, on tiers that include export, games you export and distribute. This license is limited to that use.
You may not download, extract, scrape, copy, resell, redistribute, or sublicense the raw library assets outside of an Loregend game, and you may not use them to train machine-learning or AI models. You acquire no ownership of the library assets and may not claim exclusive rights to them. These assets remain the property of Selfdefiant Studios or its licensors.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
You agree not to: probe, scan, or test the security of the Platform without permission; access it through automated means such as scrapers or bots except as we expressly allow; attempt to bypass plan limits, quotas, rate limits, or access controls; interfere with or disrupt the Platform or its infrastructure; or use it to distribute malware or to violate the rights of others. We welcome good-faith security reports sent to [email protected].
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Selfdefiant Studios is not liable for any loss of data, content, or revenue arising from your use of the Platform. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability and may perform maintenance or updates at any time. You use the Platform at your own risk, and you are responsible for keeping your own backups or exports of important projects. We do not guarantee that games created with Loregend will receive any traffic, revenue, sales, educational adoption, search visibility, or Portal placement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Selfdefiant Studios will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, and our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Platform or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or fifty U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty or liability limitations, so parts of the above may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Selfdefiant Studios and its owner from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to the content you create or publish, your use of the Platform, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right. We may assume the exclusive defense of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us.
You may delete your account at any time. Loregend reserves the right to terminate or suspend your account for violations of these Terms. Upon termination, your published games may be removed from the Portal. Data associated with terminated accounts may be deleted after a reasonable retention period. Deleting your account or removing a game from the Portal does not automatically remove copies you previously exported, shared, embedded, or distributed outside the Platform.
We collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve the Platform. This may include account information, classroom login information, usage data, technical data, session cookies, and payment-related information handled by our payment processor. We do not sell your personal information. Our handling of personal information, including classroom and student data, is described in full in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the Platform, you consent to the data practices described there.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Missouri, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief to protect intellectual property or account security.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Selfdefiant Studios regarding the Platform and supersede any prior agreements. We are not responsible for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
For questions about these Terms, contact us at [email protected].
